Tachymeter
The Cosmograph Daytona, with its tachymeter bezel, three time dials and time buttons, is a timekeeping tool especially designed for endurance racers. On the outer ring of the watch is a tachymeter, which allows the driver to read out the average speed over a specific distance in a given period of time, based on elapsed time. The tachymeter's clear display makes the Cosmograph Daytona the ideal speed measurement tool, with a maximum speed of 400 mph or kilometers per hour.
White dial
The white face of the watch features a snailed seconds dial, gold hour markers and hands coated with easy-to-read Chromalight luminescent material. The central seconds hand is accurate to 1/8th of a second, and the hour and minute counters at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock show the elapsed time in hours and minutes, respectively. This allows the driver to know exactly how much time has elapsed and to decide how to travel the rest of the way to victory.
Gold Steel
Gold is a beautiful, noble, and fascinating thing to behold. Steel is strong and trustworthy. The harmony of the two is combined with other characteristics. Gold and steel were the hallmark features of Rolex watches from the early 1930s until 1933, when the trademark name was officially registered. It is also one of the distinctive features of the OYSTER collection.
