Silver-colored dial

The dial features an 18-carat gold base set with diamonds and 18-carat gold Roman numerals set with eight diamonds IX. Many of the models in the OYSTER collection feature a sunray effect that reflects the lightness of the dial. This effect requires an exceptional brushing technique to create the engravings that spread out from the center of the watch face. The light is dispersed along the markings, creating a subtle yet distinctive effect that reveals itself in different shades as the wrist moves. Once the sunray effect has been achieved, the watch is then colored by physical vapor deposition or electroplating, and finally finished with a varnish.

Diamond-set bezel

Gemsetters, like sculptors, use precious metals to carefully handcraft the setting for each gemstone. The craftsmen set the stones with extreme precision, with each stone precisely aligned and calibrated in its place to ensure that it is securely adorned in a gold or platinum setting. In addition to the quality of the gemstones, Rolex also places stringent requirements on the gemstone setting, including the height and precise alignment, orientation and position of the stones, the regularity, solidity and proportions of the setting, and the fine finish of the metal mounting. The watch is a dazzling embellishment for the wearer's wrist.
